about me

My first word was "di di," which my parents translated to draw. I've been drawing ever since, sometimes less, lately more.

It has been a long and arduous journey for me to heal and transform my creative life; to accept myself as an artist. From my experience as an art teacher, I have witnessed that this is an issue which many of us struggle with. The voices inside my head have distanced me from the "league of artists."

As I grow older, I realize that creativity is what I do. I do it whether I'm alone with paints, or in a classroom, with my teen drawing circle, in the kitchen, dancing, or laughing. If humanity would join me in this pursuit, I'm willing to bet we'd have a more joyous and perhaps more beautiful world.

I am changing all the time. I can not write a traditional bio. Papers and degrees would not describe who I am. I am not certain that a list of my experiences would either. The best I can offer is my growth and my perspective. Which, after all, is my hope for this site.

I'll begin with a list of things that have meaning for me now:

friendship, family,  movement, connection, authenticity, silence, story-telling, playfulness, plants, animals, minerals, understanding, compassion, song, healing, children, communication, laughter
