The last two weeks have been pretty amazing for me. I launched the website. I announced myself as an artist without realizing how vulnerable and scared I'd feel.
I was moved, grateful and encouraged by the comments left on the website and more specifically on the Tulip Tree. They kept me going through the "what the hell am I doings" and the "I can'ts." Thank you so much, everybody! I did the drawing yesterday at my kitchen table. When I told my partner I was going to draw the names from a hat he said, "really?" And I said, "It'll be fun." And it was. It was also personal. I was surprised how full my heart felt when I pulled the name out of the hat. I didn't realize how good it would feel to give it away. So the Tulip Tree has found a home with Linda Grinde. Because so many people love the image I have decided to make prints of the painting available as well. You can purchase an 8.5 x 11 in. art print of the Tulip Tree, printed with archival pigments on high quality photo paper for $20. If shipping is required I'll add a fee of $4. I've also made many of the other pieces available as art prints for the same price and at the same size. You can contact me by e-mail if you are interested in an order.
So what's next? I am working on a piece currently which you can see parts of in the photo above. The image of the woman on the right who is buried in trees. I am hoping to finish it this week, and I'll upload it to the site so everyone can take a look.
I am figuring out how to balance my time. How to make art, sell art, clean my house, cook food, and have time to play with my friends. So far, it has been a lil' challenging.
I've begun the process of collaborating on a few commission pieces, which I'm excited about. It's new to me, so I am feeling my way through the process and learning new things.
With the help of a few sales (thank parents) I've been able to invest in art quality printer. It should be coming in the mail tomorrow. Andy and I are both excited to play with it. It can do about everything except make toast. I am happy because it will enable me to make prints. I am going to be selling prints here on the site, at the Missoula Made festival, Etsy, and perhaps the Sunday craft market by the carousal here in Missoula.
In August I'll be giving away another piece of art. I haven't made it yet, but I am sure it will come to me.
Until next time, be.....

Ria,
Thanks for sharing so much beauty with us. I can really see you in the art, all your loveliness and tenderness. I am so glad to have seen this!

Maria
Ria,
I'm excited for you -- and appreciate the range of feelings you've been having as you "expose" yourself and your beautiful art to all of us. I so enjoy seeing your pieces, even through this computer medium. Your style... is luminous -- and the subjects feel primal/basic/central. Putting together a site is no small feat, either. Mazel tov! Sending love, Linda
